So Long Nepal

Well I’m now in Hong Kong and met up with Si, it’s nice here, even though I didn’t expect to like it because it’s so diferent from nepal, which i LOVE! I didnt think i could find high rise buildings so pretty lit up at night, but it’s pretty spectacular.  Anyway, quick update of the rest of my trip -

rafting - bloomin’ awesome - we sailed down the seti river, the water was a gorgeous bluey green, there were mountains either side, gorgeous white sandy beaches.  loads of fun - the rapids weren’t particularly difficult, but tthey were fairly exciting nontheless.  The water was warmish, so we swam, and then camped on the white sand.  fun times! the food was also amazing, the guides did the cooking, yummy yum yum, and somehow they even managed to cook a banana cake, how?!

chitwan national park - we stayed in a nice hotel that was all green and wooden, and one day we got an elephant safari ride in which was cool, also went to an elephant breeding sanctuary and there were baby elephants there, twins, the first account of twins in nepal ever, and thhey were only 20 days old.  sooo indescribably adorable!! the next day we went on a walking safari into the jungle, was cool, our guides led us into it, and we were often clin=mbing around ttrees and ucking under brances and through long grass. and then, we saw  a rhinocerous!! a real one! the one we saw was bathing in the water, man they look weird those creatures.  we also heard one that was ridiculously close, like 2 m away, and our guide stared getting scared, but then it was apparantly ok cos it went down a hill or something.  rose saw a glimpse of it. mental.  another highlight was elephant bathing time - sooooo fun.  me rose and another girl climbed ono the back of an elephant, and it wandered into the river to cool itself down, then it sprayed us all with water! teehee! then it started wriggling and we all fell off, shocked at first, but then realised that was supposed to happen, as we climbed back on and did it again!! If you hold it’s ears then it lifts you up with his trunk and lets you climb on its back.  soooo much fun.  a bit scary though, elephants are high up!!!

anyway, need to make some plans or the next month, but am definitely planning to go into china, will do some trekking round here hopefully first, need to go tent shopping!!  catch you later x

amazing day

had the best day ever today, and feel like sharing -

In Pokhara at the moment, and man it’s such an awesome place.  this morning we were in Bandipur, and that’s also a wicked place, we got up fairly early and went for a short wander until we got our first awesome glimpse of the Annapurnas.  Then a couple of hours of a jeep later, we arrived here.  We had lunch, and then, oh yes, we went paragliding! dear god the m ost exciting thing EVER!!! I went first as couldnt control my excitement, and we ran off the edge of the hill into the air.  it was tandem, and the guy i was with was incredible, we were the highest people in the air for aaaages, and we went the longest way - a little bit of cross country towards the white mountains! There was a lake below, and we dipped and dived sometimes quite close to the ground.  It was so serene and amazing.  Just before we landed, we went above the lake, and did some awesome acrobatics and stuff, sliding left and right, i swear we nearly wernt upsidedown at somepoint!!! bloody brilliant!!! then we landed easily, and wandered around outside next to the gorgeous lake, barefoot, in the sun, in the himalayas, drinking beer. woop.

This afternoon just chilled and eaten and now about to go to some bohemian bars.  i love it here! Missing you guys though… x

from Bakhtapur

finished the trk, oh my god sooooooooooo amazing.  absolutely gorgeous everywhere.  really varied, forests, fields, but most of all, MOUNTAINS!!! the highest we got was 3838m.  awesome.  now in a small town for a day or so of touristy goodness, its realy lovely here, everyone so friendly and everything so colourful. and cheap! it takes a lot of strength not to buy everything.  hope you guys are all well xx

Kathmandu

Here, and it  is just as amazing as i expected.  so livley and busy and colourful and friendly.  its a bit weird now just following the crowd - the takes us everywhere and things, but its also kind of nice to take the stress out of it all.  everyone in the group is also really nice.  Backtracking a bit, we got used to Delh and started warming to it.  The Taj, oh man, no matter how awesome anyone tells you it is, it is soooooo much better.  it’s incredibly amazing!!! best building ever!! and built by a man for his wife who died and he was so upset.

Tomorrow we start our trek, it’s 6 days i think, but i’m so excited, i cant wait to  get near some mountainous views!! you can catch a glimpse of it here, but itl also be good to get out of this hectic city,  as much as i love it.  last night we went to a reggae bar, twas brilliant! the rum is quite strong here too…..

anyway, need to go but hope you are all well etc.  photos will be up another time, i need time and concentration! love to you all  :-)

Cough Cough Cough

I’m here in Delhi and man it’s mental! I think I’ve eaten a million tons of dust.  We’re staying in a place called Paharganj which is the most mental place of all in delhi - its’s so difficult to know who’s nice and who’s not as everyone is trying to rip you off.  But we met with fiona yesterday and today we went to see some historic places, the red fort and a mosque, and looked round a bit of a ncier area.  That was pertty good, i think it was mainly the shock yesterday that got us.  Tomorrow me and rose are going to the Taj.  Hopefully should be fun fun!  I really don’t think Delhi is my favourite place in the world though, but it’s definitely a mental experience!

One more sleep

Do you ever look at the clock and think - I wonder what I’ll be doing this time tomorrow?  Well. I’ll be sitting on a plane, leaving UK for a proposed 14 months.  Sometimes that doesn’t really feel like it means much, a mixture of vague excitement and anxiety, but sometimes it hits me with a BAM and oh man it’s well scary!  Ho hum, well whatever happens, I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience, and there’s no way that you could force me now to change my mind. Yippee!!

I’m leaving the country with Rose from Uni, and we’re staying in Delhi for 4 days, before jetting off for the very exciting trekking in the wonderful himalayas.  Thats for 3 weeks, and I’m really really looking forward to it.  After that, Rose will leave me :-( and I’ll set off for China, to meet up with Simon :-) and then we’ll hopefully explore China for Christmas and New Year.  Finally, in January, I have a job in Taiwan for a year, teaching English.

I’ll hopefully be in contact loads and loads, but if I’m rubbish, PLEASE! just email me or whatever, i’ld love to hear your news too.  Miss you already ;-) Now let the adventures begin….!
